This was my first ever shelfie! Okay, actually I don’t think that’s true. I know it isn’t. But lies aren’t always bad, right? Anyway, I wanted to give you guys a look at my books and what I’ve read. This is my read paperbacks shelf. Yes, I actually have another shelf dedicated to hardcovers. But it isn’t nearly as full as this one is. It’s not even close. I don’t really buy hardcovers because I’m usually a few books behind the authors who write my favorite series so I’m rarely rushing to the store on release day for a book. Well, I’ve done it maybe once, but that was because it was an author event and I had to buy the book to get my other ones signed. Besides, $24.95 is way too much for me.
By the way, I just recently put six books on this shelf that I’d read a long time ago and never got around to putting them up and I was pretty excited to see that I finally made it to the bottom shelf!
Okay, so let me tell you a little about the books.

So that’s it. Those are all the paperbacks I have that I’ve read. As I told you, I have another shelf that holds my hardcovers and to-be-read shelves. How does my little library of books stack up against yours? Tell me, please.
I love Robert B. Parker’s books. Too bad no more books coming. I will miss them. Blessings to you, John…

Well I’m way behind in Spenser and Jesse Stone so I have a few years of reading before I run out.

I just bought your book for my Kindle. Had to have it when I saw that you were influenced by Robert B. Parker.

I’m envious of your tidy bookshelf. Mine is jam packed with two rows of books on each shelf so the back row is hidden. My top shelf is too heavy, it’s dedicated to just Stephen King books. I used to have it organized by author but I had to move the shelf and I didn’t take the time to reorganize it. I might have to do that one day so I can borrow your idea for my own blog.

Oooh, fun idea. I might have to take some pictures of my shelves. I like your idea of having a to-read and an already-read shelf; my books are mostly just exploding off the shelves in some semblance of genre/author/color/size organization.

Haha my to-be-read shelf is only like 15 ish books. I can’t wait to get another one. 🙂

I love your shelfie! I usually buy books for my kindle but I’m going to start collecting my favorites on paper.

Thanks! I’ve only bought a small number of books on my Kindle. I’d much rather add it to my shelf pictured here than my digital shelf on there.

You’re definitely right and it not only looks better but it feels better to hold the real books in your hands.

Shelfie: hehe, that’s hilarious. Kudos. I have boxes of books back with my parents, and I have 4 shelves of new books that I have purchased since living at school. (Library book sales are fantastic.) As soon as I corroborate them all in one living space (who knows when that will be?) I will mimic this post and link back to you; cuz this is epic.

Wellllll I can’t take credit. I saw the term on here a while back and stole it. I didn’t even tell them. I’m mean. Haha
How do you have so many!? I thought I had kind of a lot since I’m still young. Something like 180 ish? Maybe.

Haha I have that many because A) I lack self-control. B) Every library book sale I easily leave with 10 to 20 books. (spending about $20 to $30 each time) C) The local Thrift Store sells hardbacks for $1 and 50 cents for paper back. All in good shape too.

You have that many because you’re actually a hoarder. Hahaha

My bookshelves are a lot messier than yours! I need another clear out. I have books of all different genres, most are standalone some are series. Thanks for sharing that with us; it’s really interesting to see your taste in books. 🙂

I think I’m in the minority with my shelf organization. Cause I’ve seen a lot of pictures of really bad shelves. Like books all over the place and facing the wrong way. As long as yours isn’t like that then it’s okay. 🙂

Not entirely… 🙂

If your shelf IS like that then you don’t deserve your books. I’m stealing them! I’ll display them more properly. Haha

I like that your organize your books by “read” and “to-read” shelves. It almost makes me want to do that with my books, but since I have over 800, that might take a while. I’m a little OCD when it comes to buying books, and I’ve read less than half of the books that I own. I do have a library keeping app on my computer that helps me stay organized. When it comes to organizing them on the shelf, I have nine shelves of general fiction organized by author’s last name, three shelves of religious studies/commentaries, two shelves of Christian non-fiction, two shelves of Tolkien/Lewis (I’m obsessed, I know), one shelf of bios, one shelf of gardening, two shelves of linguistic/literary studies, two shelves of short stories, one shelf of history, two shelves of random, and an entire glass-doored bookcase with collectibles and other editions that are valuable/special to me, and a couple stacks of Harry Potter and random mythological stuff sitting on the floor in my room waiting till I find somewhere to put them. Within each of those categories it’s pretty random (except for the general fiction section, of course).

Oh my goodness! You have a library! Let me be you for a day! Or the week. Or forever. I’ll take care of all of them and I’ll even organize them!
I’ve read like 90% of all the nooks I have. I have around 180 and maybe 15 I haven’t read.
