March Sets a New Record

February set a new record for most views per day in a calendar month, and now March has set the record for most Likes in a calendar month. March was actually on a record-setting pace for most of the month, but then slowed down a bit. Let’s take a look. Previous record will be in parenthesis.

Very recently I reached 700 Likes for a calendar month for the first time (January) and now I’ve gone ahead and reached 800. Go, me! But I know what you’re thinking when you read those numbers. You’re thinking about the donut next to the number of books I read. It’s okay. I’m not worried about it. Everything else looks fine to me. Now for some posts.

Saturday Selects #13: Love has no labels

Post you may Have Missed

20 Years ago Today…

Everyone has always loved it when people write about how great their blog is doing, so I fully expected the top post this month to be the top post. After a quarter of the calendar year I’m well on my way to posting the number of poems I’d like to post and reaching my other blog-related goals. AND I’ve now posted each day in February and March. I don’t know how much longer I can keep it up with my trip and just being sleepy most days, but I’ll go as long as I can.

Tell me about your March. My favorite part was that Spring finally arrived here in Texas!

  1. You guys have spring? Lucky. In Arizona, we go from Summer to Pit of Hell.

Good job on the numbers! Daily posting definitely boosts them. And readers are a fickle lot. You fall off for one week, and your numbers totally tank. It takes time to re-build the momentum. Eventually, I’d like to get ahead of that curve… write “future” posts and schedule them out for a few weeks. That should happen shortly after I adopt that pet unicorn.

    • Haha our Spring is like the second half of March and April. Once May gets here it’s just hot and hot and hot. I haven’t not blogged for an entire week since maybe January of last year. Or December 2013. Unicorns DO exist. Just ask Superwoman.

  2. How long have you been working at this to achieve those kind of numbers? I’m new at this. I think I have 10 posts in my first month.

  3. Nice one, John- congrats.
Question- with all the blogging- great writing practice thought it is- do you still find time to write your own stuff (another novel etc) ?
That’s the only problem I’ve found. Though I’ve only been blogging since the start of this year, to keep up the momentum and post (nearly) every day, I’ve found productivity in my novel rewrite has slacked off. With family, friends, work, domestic stuff there’s only so many hours in the day…

    • Thanks. I haven’t worked on my WIP in like a year. Just because I don’t want to. I wrote my blog posts in 10-15 minutes each day. Even with replying to comments and stuff, it’s just a tiny fraction of the day for me. I’ll write when I feel like writing.

      • Man, you’re good! I take forever scanning comments and replying to stuff, though I guess it’s all still a bit of a novelty at the moment.
Hope you enjoy your trip- especially the UK (I’m not biased, of course!)
