Guess who has a new job!?

*raises hand and jumps off the ground*

Yay. Excitement.

So y’all know I’ve been “looking” for a job for some time now, right? The quotations are there because my search has slowed down a bit in recent months because I’m not absolutely desperate. But most weeks I’ll randomly play around on Indeed (job website) and just see what’s out there. Let me also say that if you’re looking for a job, Indeed will have something for you. It really just comes down to what you want to be doing.

Anyway, so I’m just clicking “next page” over and over again because I’ve already seen pretty much every job listed. And then I see something I hadn’t seen before. A position at a bookstore! I wasn’t planning on applying for anything at the time. I just wanted to look. But I decided almost immediately that I’d apply there. So I did.

I submitted the application on Friday. I got an email for potential interview times on Monday. My interview was yesterday. I was offered the position. But wait, there’s more! Remember my posts recently about Why you Need Half Price Books in Your Life and then also my first Half Price Books book haul? Well it’s at Half Price Books! I’m pretty excited. And this new opportunity gives me the opportunity to buy some bookish shirts!

Tell me what you’d do if you found someone who would pay you to be surrounded by books. I might just fall over and faint on my first day, which is next Tuesday. Hehe.

PS: this should not impact my daily posting schedule at all. But since it is full-time I may be a little slow in replying to comments. Just for future reference.

On this day in 2014 I published The Trusty Beta Reader.

  7. Congratulations! 😀 I wouldn’t believe my luck if I get paid to be surrounded by books. 😛 All the best. Don’t get sidetracked by books because you have got to work… with books around you. 😛

  8. Oh man, I’d be so broke if I worked in a bookstore. But I know you have WAY more self control than I do when it comes to book buying. Congratulations on the new job! It sounds exciting and fun! Is this your first full-time job?

  11. I’m happy that you’re happy John! I don’t want a job, being retired, but I do know what it’s like to land in a job that you are going to really enjoy. If only everyone could work in jobs they really want and enjoy, we would all be happy people. Have a great time. 🙂

  14. Congrats! A couple of my best pals work at Half Price Books, and they absolutely love it. You’ll probably have stalkers in no time, just warning you. Anyone who works at the store, male or female, has stalker tales. Bookworms…you gotta love ’em.

  15. Congratulations on the new job!!! I once worked at a bookstore (until it closed) and it was one of my best jobs. It actually rekindled my interest in books again.
