My Black Friday Experience

Uh oh.

I went to the mall last night. 🙊

And let me just say that for every person who criticizes businesses for opening on Thanksgiving, there are dozens, maybe hundreds of people who shop. I’ve never seen the mall so crowded. This was at 10:00 at night. It was ridiculous. But the store I wanted to go to was closed. I didn’t buy anything.

But that’s not what this is about. I worked my first Black Friday today in a real retail environment. It was fun. There had to be over 100 people in line when I got to work a little before 9:00 this morning. And it was very crowded in the store for several hours. But there was pizza. And the people weren’t fighting over cheap TV’s. So it was interesting.

I also went to the mall again. Same as last night. Anyway, I wanted to know if any if you have any interesting Black Friday stories. I don’t. Mostly because I don’t buy anything for anyone. Ha!

  1. Because we weren’t involved in Balck Friday at our shop, our takings were actually down a little – all of those people were too busy punching each other in the face over TVs to buy flowers.
Your place sounds like ours at Christmas/Valentines/Mother’s Day – frantic, but there is a comraderie between me and my colleagues which is lovely 🙂

  2. as a non-christian I find christmas to be a holiday for the gullible. I’m lost on what the message should be. I don’t waste time and money the rest of the year, why do it now. But thanks for the day off.
