Saturday Selects is a series of posts I usually write on the first Saturday of each month to discuss something outside the general bookish theme of the blog. Today I’m writing about Trump, again.
I’m sure you’re well aware by now of the recording that surfaced yesterday in which Donald Trump talks about sexually harassing and assaulting women. If you’re reading this and have no idea what I’m talking about, then I’ve got you covered. Here’s the video. There is lots of graphic language.
I can’t tell you how many people have actually defended his comments on social media and on TV. These people are the reason he feels he can say or do any thing he pleases. There’s no consequence. He says Mexicans are criminals. Meh. He says ban all Muslims from the US. Meh. He says women are disgusting. Meh. He says African Americans are living in hell. Meh. And now video surfaces of him sexually assaulting women because he’s a star and they let him do it.
There is no excuse. Republican. Democrat. Independent. White. Latino. College educated. Asian. African American. Middle class. 1%. It does not matter what you look like or where you live. A reasonable, respectful human being has no justification for supporting this man in ANY THING he does. And yet, he’ll still receive millions of votes on November 8th.

She’s far from perfect. If you want to compare any of her faults to the things he’s said and believes in and you still have the kind of response, then there’s nothing left to say.

I have no desire to convince you of anything. Think whatever you like about whomever you like. This would be a pointless discussion. I’ll make better use of my time. Have fun with your emails. I’m sure it’s riveting stuff.

Sometimes decisions seem easier the less a person knows. Helps one sleep better at night, for sure. But being an ostrich isn’t really the way to live life. Cheers.

You’re assuming you know more about either candidate than I do, based on nothing. I also don’t take life tips from randoms on the internet. So thanks, but no thanks. You have a blog of your own. Use it to throw out all your “knowledge” you’re so eager to share. I imagine you’ll get one person or none to read it.

You’re assuming I was directing my comments at you, and not just making conversation in abstract on the blog of someone who got at least one person to read his post. Now, if the goal was to have no one read the post, and even fewer to disagree with it, I have to wonder why the post was made in the first place. Wonder only; I dare not conclude, for you were right on at least one count: I don’t know what you know or don’t know.
But I can vet, scrutinize, and object to the comments made. That’s fair game, I would think. And, frankly, I’d rather think that someone who can support a corrupt, unapologetic sociopath who has made a forty-six year career of being a female Richard Nixon is merely uninformed–because the alternative is that they themselves are sociopaths. In which case, the least they could do is be honest about it. Just saying. Wouldn’t dream of telling you how to live your life.

I think that Trump is a bastard and I definitely won’t be supporting. I don’t know if I will be supporting the Democrats either (I’m in the Green Party). However, anyone who can be racist or sexist or anything towards anybody doesn’t have the right to be president. How would he work with other nations? How would he work with people of different races? He is not an ideal candidate to me.

Well if you decide to vote Hillary, then you’re an uninformed sociopath. According to some random person off the internet ⬆ who so obviously is more informed than all of us. To answer your questions, I couldn’t see him working well with ANYONE.Except for the likes of Chris Christie and Ben Carson. Those clowns.
