A week after I quit my job at Half Price Books last July I made a decision regarding my next vacation. Washington, DC. Again. I visited last May and I simply couldn’t wait to get back. The dates? January 18-25. To experience my first presidential inauguration. But then election night happened, along with my inability to find employment. My plans changed.
In December while waiting on word from numerous potential employers I decided to start adjusting my plans. My next choice? Boston.
I originally planned on April 18-25. But the Yankees are playing the Red Sox on the 25th. I COULD NOT MISS IT if I was already going to be in town. I added a day. I’m leaving on the 18th to visit one of the most historic cities in America. It’ll be my longest and first solo trip, but I could not be more excited.
This trip has been nearly 9 months in the making, and I’m ready to go.
Which place have you visited that left you immediately wanting to go back?
Toronto. I visited half a dozen times in ten years. If it wasn’t for the cold, I would have already moved there. Instead I’m saving to move back to Key West.

When I left DC and began my job search I looked to see if there was anything in the area I might be qualified for. I ultimately decided against applying for the couple of positions I was interested in, but I haven’t eliminated the possibility. Also, I think Key West would be great. Though hurricane season might deter me.

Hurricanes go around key west thanks to Cuba. You get one once in a while but it’s safer there than further up like someplace like South Carolina.

I hope you have a great time! Boston is definitely on my list of historic places to visit. Haven’t been there yet. I loved Dublin and my sister and I will be going back to Ireland next year. I also adore Savannah, Georgia. A beautiful old city. My sister and I did an eight mile walking tour of the historic areas of it. Amazing! I really want to go back.

I’ve never given Savannah much thought. Perhaps I’ll have to start thinking about it. As for international cities I’ve already decided that Mexico City will be my first. I’m actually looking at possibly going later this year. Still in the early stages there.

Nice! I’ve never been to Mexico, but I’ve always wanted to go. Especially to Teotihuacan and the pyramids there.

Yes. A friend of mine went last year and I liked the pictures he took of everything. Especially the pyramids.

It’d be one heck of a good workout, too, hiking up those narrow, tall steps.
