KINDLE GIVEAWAY!

Last month I tried to conduct a giveaway for a gift card, but it didn’t seem to catch on. Now I’m upping the stakes a bit. I know I don’t need to conduct a giveaway, but I’m serious about my channel. And I feel like a lot of people aren’t really taking it seriously. Which is okay, I know people have their own interests and reasons for this. Now I want to give even more of an incentive. This is essentially what we do at Half Price Books when we aren’t getting as many email sign ups as we’d like. We do a gift card drawing. I’m betting that if you aren’t interested in my channel right now, perhaps I’ll be able to convince you somewhere down the line, but in the meantime there’s a Kindle here with your name on it. So here are the rules.

You’ll be able to enter up to the three times. But you MUST subscribe to my YouTube channel. So even if you do two of the three and don’t subscribe, then you wont be entered. Here’s how to enter.

  1. Subscribe to my YouTube channel. (YOU MUST DO THIS TO ENTER AT ALL)
  2. Like this post.
  3. Like the giveaway picture on my Instagram.

This is the device I’ll be giving away here. It’ll be BRAND NEW.

And that’s it! There is one catch here. I’m once again setting a minimum on the number of subscribers I gain in order for the giveaway to take place. I want to gain 160 to reach 200 total. Which is quite a few more than my current 40, but there’s a Kindle on the line. If I don’t reach the minimum I’ll drop the prize down to a gift card, but I’ll definitely give away SOMETHING.

Here’s how I’ll pick the winner. I’ll allow people to enter for seven days. Once next Tuesday comes around I’ll immediately check the subscriber numbers and the likes on everything else. I’ll assign a number to every new subscriber, every like on this post, and every like on Instagram (for those who qualify). Then I’ll use a random number generator to determine the winner. I’ll notify the winner and get the Kindle shipped out as soon as I can.

THIS IS OPEN TO ANYONE WORLDWIDE WHO CAN USE A KINDLE DEVICE.

You can enter the maximum number of three times in about a minute, so what are you waiting for?!

Guess who Officially has a Custom YouTube URL?!

This guy!

I’d originally thought I could only get a custom URL if I reached 100 subscribers on my channel. So I set up a giveaway to entice more of y’all to subscribe to get me over the hump. Then I realized I didn’t need 100 subscribers. Which means I’m now left with a giveaway all set up with no reason to use it. Welp.

But I’d still like for more of y’all to subscribe over there. Especially since most of you don’t catch every post I write. I’m just talking about books I read. I’m not going on political rants or talking about Jennifer Lawrence the whole time. So how bad could it be, right? I mean, unless you just think I’m a loser or something. *sad face*

Anyway, so I’ve decided to do the giveaway even though I’ve already gotten my custom URL. All you have to do is subscribe to my channel here! And if you haven’t done so already, go ahead and watch my latest video on The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Once you do that go on over to my Rafflecopter to enter the giveaway there. You’ll have your choice of a $20 Amazon gift card or a $15 Half Price Books gift card. There’s a difference because you can generally get more for your money at Half Price Books. I know the prizes aren’t too significant, but all I’m asking you to do is click two buttons. I’d take $15-20 for doing that.

Think you can do those two things for me? Yeah? Perfect!

PS: My URL is now http://www.youtube.com/johnnyreads

PPS: I’ll only choose a winner if reach 75 subscribers. I’m currently at 18. Help!

On this day in 2015 I published Which 2015 Releases are you Most Looking Forward to?.

Winner Announced!

Remember about three weeks ago when I wrote this post to celebrate reaching 2500 WordPress followers and to offer up a nice surprise? No. Too bad. I wrote it. And I asked for y’all to tell me why you’ve stuck around my blog. And I offered a nice incentive for all of your kind words. All you had to do was tell me what you’ve enjoyed about my blog, and in doing so would get a chance at one of two things. First, you could name a character in my current WIP. If you’re not interested in that, then I’d buy you two paperbacks of your choosing and throw in a copy of my own book. Woo! Free stuff!

Anyway, I’ve finally gotten around to picking a winner. And though I do appreciate all the comments on there, one person really summed up exactly what I try to do with every post. There’s an entertainment aspect. There’s an information aspect. There’s my opinion. And I want you to think about what I’ve written. That’s about it. Here’s the winning comment.

So that means you’re about to get three new books or the chance to name a character in my second book! I know a few books or the name of a character isn’t much, but I think either choice is a nice gesture to simply show my appreciation for you sticking around here.

On this day in 2014 I published A Bucket List, for Books!.

Now, onto other news. I have some fun stuff to share with you guys about the first six days that my book has been available for sale. Last Friday night my Amazon sales rank dipped under 100,000 for the first time! It was around midnight and I was pretty ecstatic. Until the next night when my sales rank dipped below 50,000 for the first time! How exciting is that?

Today I received my first order of 25 books. Nine of which will be giveaways to people who helped my book become reality. Four of which will be reserved to be sold to people who have offered loads of encouragement throughout this whole process. Two have already been sold. One for me to treasure for all of eternity. And that leaves the others to be sold where I work. Did you read that?! My books are going to be sold in a store already! The people I work with are pretty awesome and I’m all set to talk to them tomorrow about them getting their hands on some of my books to sell in the store! They’ve already brought up the possibility of doing a signing and everything! Ahhhh! AND one of the guys I work with wants me to talk to his wife’s book club in January! I’m going crazy with excitement. AND I emailed a couple of my past professors who knew about my writing last week and right away one of them emailed me back telling me that she and another professor bought one immediately! I’ll have more updates as they come my way for all of you guys.

I’d love for some of you to buy my book! Really. Here’s the link. Just take a look at least!

Andrew Banks is hired by sixteen-year-old Mercedes Vega to work his first case. He soon learns that Carlos Vega, her father, is mixed up with the wrong people. He finds himself in Bellaire, one of the wealthiest parts of Houston, only to discover that not all of its residents are as innocent as they look. He must stay a step ahead of the Bellaire millionaire he’s pursuing before it’s too late for the entire Vega family, and for him.

I will post this exact post again before the entry period ends and will announce the winners early next week, probably on Monday. So be sure to check back!
