*raises hand and jumps off the ground*
Yay. Excitement.
So y’all know I’ve been “looking” for a job for some time now, right? The quotations are there because my search has slowed down a bit in recent months because I’m not absolutely desperate. But most weeks I’ll randomly play around on Indeed (job website) and just see what’s out there. Let me also say that if you’re looking for a job, Indeed will have something for you. It really just comes down to what you want to be doing.
Anyway, so I’m just clicking “next page” over and over again because I’ve already seen pretty much every job listed. And then I see something I hadn’t seen before. A position at a bookstore! I wasn’t planning on applying for anything at the time. I just wanted to look. But I decided almost immediately that I’d apply there. So I did.
I submitted the application on Friday. I got an email for potential interview times on Monday. My interview was yesterday. I was offered the position. But wait, there’s more! Remember my posts recently about Why you Need Half Price Books in Your Life and then also my first Half Price Books book haul? Well it’s at Half Price Books! I’m pretty excited. And this new opportunity gives me the opportunity to buy some bookish shirts!
Tell me what you’d do if you found someone who would pay you to be surrounded by books. I might just fall over and faint on my first day, which is next Tuesday. Hehe.
PS: this should not impact my daily posting schedule at all. But since it is full-time I may be a little slow in replying to comments. Just for future reference.
On this day in 2014 I published The Trusty Beta Reader.
Congratulations! I always wanted to work in a bookstore, but with my work experience I always seemed to be overqualified. 🙂

Not really. We just have the house of Parliament and is largely based on the British system. Our political parties, the three main ones anyway, are ideologically fairly interchangeable. So it is fairly mundane but also really stable and steady. Our federal elections only last a few weeks. I think you Americans provide all the drama and excitement we can handle.

Are you gonna make me go all the way up there to make sure he’s okay? It’s late. And I don’t want to make that trip again.

Hahaha. You are such a caring person. Gerard enjoys being in the box. It gives him a bit of a break. And he can play with his rubber ball.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. You tried your best. Now I’m off to go have Gerard paint my toenails. If he does a good job I’ll give him half a can of dog food.

Oh man, I’d be so broke if I worked in a bookstore. But I know you have WAY more self control than I do when it comes to book buying. Congratulations on the new job! It sounds exciting and fun! Is this your first full-time job?

I think you’d fill your car up once and then realize that it’s not a good idea to buy everything. 😂 And yes, it is my first full-time job. Just a little bit scary. Haha

I’m happy that you’re happy John! I don’t want a job, being retired, but I do know what it’s like to land in a job that you are going to really enjoy. If only everyone could work in jobs they really want and enjoy, we would all be happy people. Have a great time. 🙂
